Acupuncture

Do you have a sports injury or orthopedic issue? Are you looking to resume exercising? Or looking to prevent injury and improve performance? Or do you have a brain injury such as stroke, Parkinson's, or concussion? Are you looking to regain your independence? Acupuncture is a safe, natural, effective way to address most musculoskeletal and neurological issues. You need an experienced practitioner you can trust, because with acupuncture, there's simply no substitute for experience. John has been practicing acupuncture since 2005.

Therapeutic Massage

When it's time for hands-on work, you need specific, focussed, anatomically-based work. Not "routines." Every session with John is unique and focussed on your needs and priorities. John has been practicing (and teaching) manual therapies since 1998.

Bio

John Roberts, LAc

John was first introduced to acupuncture and Chinese medicine while studying abroad for a semester at Chengdu University in China; he met a handful of Germans and Canadians studying at the Acupuncture Hospital.  Upon his return, he was inspired by his percussion teacher, jazz legend Milford Graves, to pursue practicing acupuncture himself.

Due to his passion for martial arts, he began his healing arts journey by learning massage therapy, and graduated from the Swedish Institute in 1998.

After a few years in practice he enrolled in acupuncture school, graduating in 2005. In addition to operating clinics in Manhattan and Madison, he has also taught classes and supervised clinics at several massage schools.

In 2024, looking for even more positive impact, John began working on a longstanding interest: producing his own online continuing education courses for acupuncturists and massage therapists.

Outside of work he enjoys exercise, cooking brunch, and reading in his hammock.
